A New Year :: 2016

It's hard to believe that 2016 is already here. While thinking about what goals/resolutions I was going to make for this year I decided to read through Jonathan Edward's Resolutions. Here are a couple of them for your new year.

"Resolved, never to lose one moment of time; but improve it the most profitable way I possibly can."

"Resolved, never to do anything, which I should be afraid to do, if it were the last hour of my life."
What are some of your New Year Goals/Resolutions?

Evangelism Quote

“If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to hell over our bodies. And if they will perish, let them perish with our arms around their knees, imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled, at least let it be filled in the teeth of our exertions, and let not one go there unwarned and unsprayed for.”
– Charles Spurgeon

Random Pictures

A couple weeks ago a friend let me borrow her camera while she was out of town (Thanks, Lauren! =) and I had lots of fun taking pictures. My favorite lens was the macro lens and the above pictures are some that I got with it.

Some Short Thoughts :: John 1-6

"...but for this purpose I came...that He might be revealed to Israel." (John 1:31)
John the Baptist was the messenger spoken of by Isaiah (Isaiah 40:3) who came to prepare the way before Jesus. He came to proclaim Christ to the Israelites. That was the whole purpose he proclaim Christ. What is our purpose in life as Believers? It is to glorify God. Are you fulfilling God's purpose for your life?

"Zeal for Your house will consume me." (John 2:17)
Jesus came to the temple and saw God's house defiled by the Jews. He is consumed with zeal and drives them all out, thus cleansing the temple. He knew that the Jews would not like Him for doing it, but He did it anyway. Does zeal for the things of God consume us? Does it consume us even when we know others might not like us for it? Does it consume our entire life in every area?

"He must increase, but I must decrease." (John 3:30)
Is this our prayer and lifestyle? Are we decreasing so that Christ can increase? Is our life pointing always to Christ or do we do things so that we can be praised by men?

"My food is to do the will of Him who sent Me and to accomplish His work." (John 4:34)
Jesus food was doing God's will, obeying His Father. Is this our food? Is obeying God like food to us?

"He was a burning and shining lamp..." (John 5:35)
This was the testimony of John...a burning and shining lamp. He did not hide his light, but boldly proclaimed Christ to those around Him. Is that our testimony? Are we a lamp in the darkness around us? Are we burning and shining?

"Whoever comes to Me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in Me shall never thirst." (John 6:35)
When we come to Christ, He becomes our all. Are we completely satisfied in Christ? Can we truthfully sing "You are my all in all"?

What has the Lord been teaching you from His Word lately?
